Wrapped In Hope 9/11 Day Activation CHS

Join Blankies 4 My Buddies Foundation, in partnership with Project Street Outreach and the Transportation Education Foundation, for Wrapped in Hope: 9/11 Day of Service Charleston on Sunday, September 20, from 12–3 PM. In recognition of the 25th anniversary of September 11, youth, families and community members of all ages are invited to come together for an afternoon of remembrance, reflection and hands-on service. Participants will create no-sew blankets, assemble hygiene and comfort kits, and write messages of encouragement for people in need. All items created during the event will be donated to Project Street Outreach, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, including veterans. The event is supported by 9/11 Day, AmeriCorps and the City of North Charleston. All are welcome. Kids of all ages are encouraged to participate. We remember. We serve. We give hope. Media Release I acknowledge that photography, video and media coverage may occur during the Wrapped in Hope 9/11 Day Activation. By participating, I understand that my (or my child’s image), likeness and/or voice may appear in event-related media, social media, websites, promotional materials and other communications by Blankies 4 My Buddies Foundation and its event partners.

9/11 Day of Service & 25th Anniversary Remembrance Event

The 9/11 Day of Service and 25th Anniversary Remembrance Event is an opportunity for the Triangle to come together and turn reflection into meaningful action. Hundreds of volunteers will support local nonprofits through hands-on service projects, honoring the spirit of unity and service that emerged in the days following 9/11. Then, volunteers disperse to take on service projects throughout the venue (indoors) and visit the Community Connections Fair. This event benefits over 20 nonprofits and schools throughout the Triangle. The event will also feature three impactful community drives (socks and undies for Note in the Pocket, food for Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, and blood for The Blood Connection) and a Community Connections Fair, giving attendees the opportunity to meet local nonprofits, learn about pressing needs in the Triangle, and discover meaningful ways to stay involved beyond September 11. If you are not available for the event shifts, then please consider registering for one of the nearly 40 volunteer shifts taking place at nonprofits and schools across five counties that day and through Sept. 13. The call to action extends far beyond Raleigh. Nearly 40 additional service projects will take place throughout the Triangle on September 11 and throughout the weekend, hosted by nonprofits and schools across Wake, Durham, Johnston, Person, and Orange counties. Activate Good will connect individuals, families, and employee teams to opportunities, making it easy to step in and make a difference in a way that fits your schedule. Together, these projects create a regional movement of service giving thousands of residents the opportunity to pause, remember, and do something meaningful in response to a day our nation will never forget. This September 11, Activate Good is asking the Triangle to do more than remember. We’re asking our community to show up, serve, and stand united.

Revolutionary Boston 250 Next Gen Voices: A New Era of Youth Service & Civic Action Forum and Volunteer Event

In recognition of 9/11 Day of Service, Commonwealth Seminar will bring together young people, Commonwealth Seminar alumni, community partners, and civic leaders to discuss the future of youth service in America This event will create space for young people to reflect on how service can strengthen communities, deepen civic participation, and inspire the next generation of leaders. As part of the day of service, youth participants will also come together to assemble school supply kits for underserved students across Boston, turning conversation into direct community action. The forum contributes to a broader national vision of building A New Era of Youth Service in America—with the goal of doubling youth participation in community service over the next 10 years and ultimately reaching 100% youth participation. Today, only about 1 in 4 young people regularly participate in their communities, leaving an estimated 64 million young Americans disconnected from civic and community life.

We Will Never Forget: Youth-Created 9/11 Remembrance Wall

Led by 17-year-old Las Vegas high school senior Aiyana Castro and her youth-led nonprofit, Creating a Giving Culture LV, this 25th-anniversary project brings young people together to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders, and ensure that a generation born after 9/11 continues the promise to never forget. Students from across Southern Nevada are creating handwritten and illustrated remembrance cards explaining why 9/11 must continue to be remembered. Youth and community volunteers will help assemble these messages into a large-scale Remembrance Wall consisting of ten freestanding 4-by-8-foot panels centered around an original “We Will Never Forget” mural. The completed wall will be displayed at multiple remembrance and community events throughout Southern Nevada, where visitors can read the students’ messages, reflect, and contribute their own commitment to remembrance. This project transforms history into youth-led education, service, unity and action.

Hands of Hope: 9/11 Day of Service

Each year, 9/11 Day brings millions of Americans together to honor those we lost on September 11, as well as the survivors and heroes of that day, by turning remembrance into service. This year, New Generations Ministries is honored to be part of this nationwide movement through our Hands of Hope project in San Marcos, California. We invite residents from across North County and the greater San Diego community to join us for a meaningful day of service. Volunteers will help prepare and distribute food packages to individuals and families in need and create messages of encouragement and hope to share with each package. Families, youth, individuals, and community groups are all welcome. No prior volunteer experience is needed — just come ready to serve! Together, we can make this Day of Doing Good a meaningful expression of unity, kindness, and service in our community.

Each step of the climb is an opportunity to remember their courage, sacrifice and service—and to ensure their legacy is carried forward for generations to come.

Make a Little Magic: Friendship Bracelets for Children Facing Serious Illness

This 9/11 Day, turn a small act of creativity into a meaningful reminder that no child or family faces a difficult season alone. Join A Moment of Magic for a nationwide, virtual Day of Service by creating handmade friendship bracelets for children facing serious illness. Volunteers can participate from anywhere, individually or alongside friends, family members, coworkers, classmates, or community groups. Create colorful friendship bracelets featuring joyful designs and encouraging words like MAGIC, BRAVE, JOY, HOPE, SHINE, COURAGE, FRIEND, DREAM, or SMILE. After September 11, completed bracelets will be mailed to A Moment of Magic and shared with children and families through our programs and community partners. A Moment of Magic is a national nonprofit organization reimagining what healing looks like by blending the power of play, mental health education, and community care to support medically vulnerable children and their families. Our programs are designed to help children feel connected, celebrated, and seen beyond their diagnosis. This project is completely virtual, which means you can serve wherever you are. Make one bracelet or make fifty. Host a bracelet-making lunch at your workplace, gather your family around the kitchen table, invite your friends over, or organize your entire school or community group. On September 11, we remember through service. Together, thousands of small acts of kindness can become something much bigger: a reminder that connection, compassion, and community matter. How it works: Register to participate. Gather friendship bracelet supplies. Make bracelets on or around September 11. Keep all designs and messages positive and child-appropriate. Mail your completed bracelets to A Moment of Magic after the Day of Service. Mailing instructions will be provided to registered volunteers. No special skills are required. All you need is a little creativity and a willingness to make a little magic for someone else.
