About this project
Join Reconnecting with the Disconnected for our We Serve to Remember 9/11 Day of Service, a youth-led community service project that brings together youth volunteers, first responders, veterans, military personnel, public safety professionals, community organizations, and local leaders to honor the spirit of unity and service inspired by September 11, 2001. Volunteers will work together to restore an illegal dumpsite in Horizon City by removing litter and debris, improving the environment, and demonstrating how service can strengthen our communities. The event will begin with a brief remembrance ceremony honoring the lives lost on September 11, as well as the courage and sacrifice of first responders, military members, veterans, and all who continue to serve our communities. Throughout the morning, participants will have the opportunity to connect with public safety professionals, learn about careers in public service, and experience the impact of working side by side to create positive change. Whether you're a student, family member, first responder, veteran, or community volunteer, your participation will help honor the legacy of 9/11 through meaningful service.

What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work and closed-toe shoes.
Will supplies be provided?
Yes. Gloves, safety equipment, trash bags, tools, water, and light refreshments will be provided.
Can families participate?
Absolutely! Families are encouraged to volunteer together.
Will students receive community service hours?
Yes. Community service hours will be verified for all participating students.
What if the weather is bad?
Participants will be notified if severe weather requires postponement or schedule changes.
Is there an age requirement?
Youth ages 5–25 are encouraged to volunteer. Younger participants should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, EVERYONE is welcome.

Community Cleanup Volunteer
Assist with illegal dumpsite cleanup and litter removal. Work alongside youth leaders, first responders, veterans, and community partners. Help improve the environment through hands-on service. Participate in the opening remembrance ceremony and safety briefing. Support environmental stewardship and community beautification efforts.
