9.11 Day - Unite For Good

Join Hermann Park Conservancy on Friday, September 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for a meaningful morning of service in Hermann Park. In recognition of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, volunteers will unite for good by participating in hands-on projects that help care for and beautify the Park. Projects may include gardening, planting, mulching, litter removal, and other seasonal maintenance activities. Together, we will honor the spirit of service, strengthen our community, and make a lasting impact on one of Houston’s most treasured public spaces. ISU's Community Preparedness Fair

Community members will have the opportunity to learn about emergency preparedness, reducing risks, and recovery resources from local organizations. Each family will receive a 72-hour kit as well as instructions to help build a more robust emergency preparedness kit for their family. All attendees will receive instructions on how to build a robust emergency kit. This is a family friendly event with plenty of kids activities. ISU's 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

Each year, ISU’s 9/11 Day of Service AmeriCorps program hosts the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to honor the lives lost and heroes who served during the events of 9/11. Community members are invited to participate by climbing the stairs in tribute, taking part in hands-on service projects, or cheering on climbers as we come together in remembrance, service, and community spirit. This years service projects include assembling hygiene kits for which funding was provided by 9/11 Day. Participants can also assemble veteran appreciation kits. ISU's 9/11 Week Kick Off

Join us as we Kick Off the week of 9/11 with an inspiring afternoon of community, remembrance, and action. As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, we invite students, faculty, staff, and community members to come together to honor the lives forever changed by that day by serving others in our own communities. What to expect: • Hands-on service projects that make a meaningful local impact • A blood drive with our friends at Red Cross • A heartfelt Memorial Moment featuring a brief presentation, moment of silence, and flag placement ceremony • Our special 25th Anniversary Tribute Tunnel, showcasing powerful artwork created by local artists and community members, including paintings, poetry, short films, children's artwork, and other creative tributes honoring those we remember Whether you stay for a few minutes or the entire event, your presence helps continue the legacy of service that emerged from one of our nation's most difficult days. Colors of Restoration: A Community Empowerment Painting Session & Giveaway Drive

In partnership with 9/11 Day, Brunch with the Word is bringing restoration and renewal to Brooklyn. This event is centered on empowerment and giving back. Attendees will paint as an act of personal restoration — a way of processing past pain and renewing the mind. That same creative output, alongside a parallel care package effort, becomes our gift back to the community. We’ll talk identity, mindset renewal, and emotional wellness, because rebuilding starts from within. Then we’ll put it into action: a community giveaway drive delivering paintings, care packages, and groceries to families and elders right here in our neighborhood. In the spirit of 9/11’s national day of service, we’re turning creativity into community care.

We Serve to Remember 9/11 Day of Service

Join Reconnecting with the Disconnected for our We Serve to Remember 9/11 Day of Service, a youth-led community service project that brings together youth volunteers, first responders, veterans, military personnel, public safety professionals, community organizations, and local leaders to honor the spirit of unity and service inspired by September 11, 2001. Volunteers will work together to restore an illegal dumpsite in Horizon City by removing litter and debris, improving the environment, and demonstrating how service can strengthen our communities. The event will begin with a brief remembrance ceremony honoring the lives lost on September 11, as well as the courage and sacrifice of first responders, military members, veterans, and all who continue to serve our communities. Throughout the morning, participants will have the opportunity to connect with public safety professionals, learn about careers in public service, and experience the impact of working side by side to create positive change. Whether you're a student, family member, first responder, veteran, or community volunteer, your participation will help honor the legacy of 9/11 through meaningful service.

Data Detectives- 9/11 Day of Service

Join us for a special edition of our Data Detective volunteering in honor of the 9/11 Day of Service, from 12PM-1:30PM EST in virtually volunteering to update our database of food programs. In the session you'll receive background information, training and support to verify and update listings of food pantries, soup kitchens and SNAP/WIC offices around the country. This information is used to direct callers to our Hunger Hotline to resources. You'll be given unique listings to check, by calling the number and doing web-based research. You'll need a computer, phone and pen and paper for the task. We encourage you to review the task guide in advance here. Nearer the time, you'll receive a zoom link to the session. NOTE- Time of session is listed in Eastern Time and you can join from anywhere in the U.S. We look forward to seeing you there!
